Motorcyclist seriously injured in Viljoen Street collission

The driver of the bakkie was left uninjured after colliding with the motorcyclist.

An entire block of streets were cordoned off yesterday afternoon (25 April) after a young motorcyclist collided with a bakkie.

The motorcycle and bakkie were both driving towards each other on Viljoen Street in different directions at around 3pm when they collided. It is not clear what caused the collision.

Mogale City Traffic Department, Community Policing Forum members and EPR Security members were on the scene where a large crowd already gathered.

The motorcyclist was identified as a young man. He was seriously injured and bystanders saw that he had sustained serious injuries to his chest and had a open wound fracture which was visible on his leg. The driver of the bakkie was left uninjured.

The News understands that the young man was taken to hospital for emergency treatment.

He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit in hospital, but is expected to be released to a recovery ward soon.
