Man arrested for pointing gun at another

An unknown armed suspect waited for his victim at his home.

An argument over mine soil led to the arrest of a suspect who pointed a firearm at another person.

A 23-year-old suspect was arrested after he allegedly pointed a firearm at another person in Rietvallei, Extension 2 and 3 in Kagiso on 4 April.

“The complainant alleged that he received a call from his housemate to inform him that an unknown armed man was at the premises looking for him on 3 April,” Kagiso Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

He then rushed back home and found the armed suspect waiting for him.

The suspect then pointed a firearm at him and demanded the alleged stolen mine soil to be handed over.

“A struggle ensued and the complainant and his brothers eventually overpowered and disarmed the suspect.”

The complainant then called the police and the suspect was handed over.

He was detained at Kagiso Police station where a case docket of unlawful possession of firearm and pointing was registered.

The firearm was recovered and the suspect will appear in court soon.

The Station Commander of Kagiso police Brigadier Sipho Ngubane praised the Rietvallei residents for not taking law into their hands.
