Child assault suspect on the run

A 27-year-old man is wanted by police after a case of child assault was re-opened at court.

Police are searching for Pule Fannuel Modise, 27, after the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court re-issued a warrant for his arrest.

“The warrant was issued after a case of assault with intent to to cause grievous harm to a minor was opened against the suspect,” police spokesperson, Constable Lucky Matome said.

Matome said Modise, who was the then boyfriend of the complainant, assaulted her eight-month-old child in September 2014 at the Smokedown informal settlement in Tarlton.

“It is alleged that the child suffered head injuries as a result of the assault,” he said.

The suspect was arrested before, but the matter was struck off the court roll and later reinstated when more evidence was brought before the court.

The investigating officer was instructed by the court to re-arrest the suspect. After several unsuccessful attempts to arrest the suspect, police are now turning to the community for assistance.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect can contact Detective Constable Magwai on 082 536 3532 or 011 951 1729 or contact the crime stop line on 08600 10111. You can remain anonymous if you wish.
