Hoping for a saving grace

With less than two weeks left, can they do it and can you help?

The angels working at the Cradle of Hope have two weeks left to raise an enormous amount of money to secure the purchase of a house on Nellie Street they dubbed ‘The Bright One’.

Since the humble beginnings of the Cradle of Hope in 2007, Melodie van Brakel and her team have gone above and beyond to serve the community.

The Cradle, also known as the House of Restoration, is a safe haven for abused women and children, and gives them the opportunity to get back on their feet in a safe and loving environment.

Over the years the Cradle has had many trials, tribulations and triumphs as they continue to make a difference in the community.

When Melodie followed her heart in an effort to expand the organisation, she put in an offer to purchase the house on Nellie Street in blind faith and now, for a change, she needs the help of the community.

“We desperately need your help,” one of her newsletters reads.

The News contacted Melodie about the Bright One, following a plea posted on Facebook.

The Bright One would enable them to provide another 30 women and children who are in desperate need, with a warm, safe bed, adequate clothing, healthy nutrition, counselling and skills development.

“We purchased the house in complete faith for an outstanding bond amount of R422 422,29. The number 422 means covenant of love. We are trusting God for His provision,” said Melodie.

The amount is due at the end of March as per the purchase contract held by FNB.

This leaves them with a little under two weeks to generate the money. They believe nothing is impossible.
