Small station, big awards

The Krugersdorp police Cluster congratulates its best.

Lieutenant Colonel Christina Tsoaedi, Tarlton Police Station commander has a lot to be proud of.

For the umpteenth time the station has received awards from the Provincial Police for their outstanding work and dedication.

The officers recently were thanked for their progress and successes in complaints attended to, community feedback, detection rate, court-ready dockets and solving of cases.

The Tarlton Police Station, among other stations such as Magaliesburg, was commended for having performed well towards the end of last year.

But police officers have been equally busy lately.

“We made seven convictions in one week. We have a very dedicated and small team of detectives, led by Captain Sam Nkhumane,” said Constable Lucky Matome, a police spokesperson.

He explained that sometimes it can be difficult to get cooperation from witnesses and even complainants. He thanks the National Prosecution Authority team and magistrates at the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court for their hard work putting criminals behind bars.

Tsoaedi told the News when people work in teams, they often see good results. Tsoaedi believes this is what makes the Tarlton Police successful.

“Members who are rewarded should set an example to their peers,” the station commander concluded.

But, as crime never seems to end, Matome said there is an increase in theft in the Tarlton area. He said motor gate motors and animal stock are especially prone to theft.

We ask that residents mark their motor gates so we can return their property if it gets stolen,” he said.

When asked what the secrets to their success are, Nkhumane said none of the detective are “in it for the glory”. He said he tries to keep the team motivated an encourages team work.

Tsoaedi said she regularly plans team building activities for the officers and station employees to build unity among them.
