Azaadville double murder: police need info

One of the three suspects is "of coloured origin".

After the murder of community icon Haroon Saleh (65) and his son Yosuf (29) in Azaadville on Thursday morning 3 March, police are urgently looking for information pertaining to the murder.

“A 65-year-old man and his 29-year-old son were shot and killed in Azaadville after three suspects entered their home,” police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, said.

Sibiya said the three suspects entered the house through the bathroom window at the back of the house and robbed both men of their cell phones. One of the suspects were armed with a firearm with witch shots were fired that left both victims in critical condition.

“The 65-year-old was certified dead on the scene whereas his son was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, where he later died. The suspects fled the scene thereafter,” Sibiya added.

It is not known what mode of transport the suspects used to flee the scene.

Police have learned that one of the suspects is “of coloured origin”.
