Arrested after hijacking truck

Police arrested one suspect after the hijackers dropped their victim on the side of the road.

A hijacking victim led police to a plot where they discovered his goods on another truck.

The sector police were conducting a patrol along Malibongwe Drive in Nooitgedacht when they were stopped by a man standing at the side of the road.

“He alleged he was hijacked in Vosloorus and the hijackers had dropped him off at the side of the road in the Muldersdrift area,” Muldersdrift Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hitler Ngwenya said.

The victim informed police that he knew the whereabouts of his truck.

The victim took them to a plot in Nooitgedacht where they discovered another truck parked next to the victim’s truck.

A group of men were busy offloading goods from the victim’s truck onto their truck, but quickly fled when they noticed the police.

One of them was not as lucky as police managed to catch the 32-year-old suspect. He was arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods and charged. He appeared in court briefly.

Muldersdrift Police Station commander Lieutenant Colonel KD Seabi applauded Constable Thlale and Constable Ndlelaco for their swift reaction to make this arrest. He said no stone would be left unturned to eradicate crime in the Muldersdrift area.
