Out of control vehicle crash into palisade

Occupants tried to flee the scene after crashing their vehicle into a palisade fence.

Krugersdorp West residents gathered at an accident scene where a driver of a vehicle lost control and crashed into a palisade fence yesterday, 10 January, afternoon.

The driver of a silver Nissan Saloon was driving along Herbert Street, when the vehicle suddenly went over the pavement on the corner of Karl Street and crashed into the palisades of the house on the opposite corner.

An eyewitness on the scene told the News how they saw the vehicle driving over the pavement before crashing into the palisade.

The witness who was viewing a house a few metres away then gave chase after the occupants who quickly jumped out the vehicle and tried to flee the scene by foot.

The two occupants of the vehicle later returned to the scene where an argument nearly broke out between them and the angry residents.

Another witness who lives a block away also told the News the vehicle was traveling at a high speed and caused a loud bang when it collided with the fence.

Upon inspection, CPF members of Sector 5 on the scene noted that not only has the vehicle’s license disc expired but the vehicle has Malawian number plates.

The witness claimed the bump of the pavement had slowed the out of control vehicle down hence the vehicle did not crash right through the fence.

Bystanders suggested the occupants may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
