Taxi made U-turn which caused accident

More details surfaced about the serious accident on Voortrekker Road last week.

More details came to light about the accident on Friday afternoon where three vehicles caused so much chaos that Voortrekker Road had to be closed on both sides.

Eyewitnesses came forward and told the News that a girl was flung from the bakkie after it was hit by the taxi.

The eyewitness said the taxi made an U-turn and crashed into the bakkie causing the driver to be tossed to the passenger side due to the impact and his 13-year-old daughter being flung out the bakkie where she landed on the island in the road.

As the taxi allegedly tried to flee the scene, it drove into another vehicle causing it to finally come to a stop.

The girl was stablised on the scene and rushed to Millpark Hospital for treatment of the serious injuries she sustained.

Her father was also transported to hospital by helicopter as he had already lost a lot of blood due to his serious condition.

The young girl, who underwent a brain scan earlier today, is to undergo surgery.

The News learned that two other people were also seriously injured.
