Police needs help in couple’s murder

Some say it was a business deal gone wrong, but police are still trying to puzzle together what exactly happened that fateful night in Noordheuwel.

Police are appealing to the community for any information which could help track down the suspect(s) who murdered a couple in their Noordheuwel home on Friday night.

The information documented on both the police and EPR Security’s report is contradicting one another and rumours are being published on Facebook about what happened that fateful night.

According to EPR, they together with Sector 7 CPF, responded to a call-out after an alleged armed house robbery incident was reported on the two-way radio system. EPR along with members of the CPF arrived at the premises in Rudd Street around 9.33pm on 27 November. On arrival at the house, a family member was already there to open the gate to the premises for EPR and CPF to investigate, assuming the suspects were possibly still hiding inside.

After the yard was searched, they proceeded to the inside of the house where they found Pieter and Joan Meyer lying face down in a pool of blood in the living room area. EPR’s report states they each had two visible wounds on them, one to the head and one to the back.

The News spoke to one of the neighbours of the Meyer’s who claimed they did not hear anything out of the ordinary and only noticed something was wrong when police vehicles and other patrol vehicles arrived at the house at around 10pm.

Krugersdorp police confirmed they are investigating a double murder.

“The police found a man and his wife brutally murdered in their home. They were found in a pool of blood with what looks like multiple stab wounds. Nothing else seemed to be out of place. An investigation to establish the motive for the crime is receiving urgent attention. No arrests have been made yet and the police is appealing to the community for any information that can help the investigating officer bring the perpetrator(s) to justice,” Krugersdorp Police spokesperson, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, said.

If you have any information contact the Krugersdorp police immediately on 011 951 1151/2. Information will be treated with the necessary confidentiality.
