Suspects arrested for fake cash

A total of R60 100 in counterfeit notes were confiscated during a roadblock.

Four suspects were arrested during a roadblock in Hekpoort last week when police found counterfeit notes in their possession.

The suspects aged between 27 and 43 were arrested on 20 November when police made the discovery of thousands of rands of counterfeit notes.

“The Krugerdorp Cluster Police officers staged a roadblocked on the R24 where they stopped and searched every vehicle and its passengers. During their operation the police stopped a vehicle with four suspicious occupants seated inside. The suspects were allegedly heading towards Johannesburg from Rustenburg’s direction when they were stopped,” Kagiso Police Spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya explained.

In total police found 601 counterfeit notes amounting to R60 100 in cash in the suspects’ possession.

All four suspects were arrested and detained at the Hekpoort police station. They are expected to make a brief appearance in court soon.
