Community Policing Forum members and police got more than they bargained for when they raided a shack in Kagiso.
Armed responses Dowry and Dunmar and police raided a shack on 12 November where they recovered stolen goods that was taken in a house break-in in Chelsey Street in Silverfields days prior.
On arrival at the shack, three suspects were found in possession of the stolen goods and also a hundred 25 litre containers filled with diesel.
Among the other stolen goods were TV’s, laptops, cellphones, cash and false notes and jewelery.
The diesel is believed to be stolen from a delivery truck who maked pit stops in the Chamdor area during the night as they pass through town.
The raid follows a tip-off by an informant to the police who with the help of the security company as back up arrested the three suspect for possession of stolen goods and theft.
“This successful raid and recovery is due to the police and community taking hands to combat crime,” Marcel Jonker, a reaction officer for Dowry said.
