Intoxicated and in possession of firearm

Drunk son busted by father with an unlicensed firearm.

An intoxicated 27-year-old was arrested over the weekend after his father lodged a complaint at the police.

The suspect was arrested in Zulu Jump in Kagiso for unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm following a complaint laid by his father at about 8am on Saturday 7 November.

“The father called and laid a complaint against his son who was in possession of unlicensed firearm while heavily intoxicated,” said Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso Police spokesperson.

The police responded swiftly. At the complainant’s residence they proceeded to his son’s shack at the back.

“Upon entering the shack, police found the suspect asleep and heavily drunk. They searched the suspect and found an unlicensed firearm under his trousers and a shirt.”

Fortunately the unlicensed firearm was recovered without ammunition.

The suspect was arrested and detained at Kagiso Police Station.

He made a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody.

He is charged with unlawful possession of an unlicensed firearm.
