Your dream wedding can be a reality

These wedding planners want to make your dream wedding a reality, even if you can't afford it.

Have you always dreamed about the day you will walk down the aisle, your soon-to-be-husband waiting for you dressed all in white?

Many young girls do.

But according to The Wedding Wish, not many of them are able to make those dreams come true and might never have the beautiful wedding day they have always wanted.

“The Wedding Wish is an initiative developed by the South African School of Weddings to make the wish of a couple, who do not have the means or resources to have a traditionally beautiful wedding due to financial or even physical restraints, come true,” Ashley Olivier from SA School of Weddings told the News at the Inspirational Brunch fundraiser recently.

The fundraiser is one of two held annually to raise not only funds but also awareness about their cause. At this weekend’s (8 November) brunch, over 450 guests were treated to some of SA School of Weddings’ best creations. From the entertainment and food to the table decorations and fashion show models and stalls, the wedding planning students sourced everything that made the day possible.

Beneath the scorching sun, models cat-walked in up-and-coming designer wedding dresses and formal attire. But guests, mostly consisting of close family and friends of the students, were soon cooled off under the forest of trees inside Memoire Wedding and Function Venue.

One of the students said she would gladly organise a wedding for free.

“I have found my passion. And if I can make someone else happy just through doing what I love, I would,” she said.

Ashley believes that there are a number of deserving charities that all do great work.

“But the funds these organisations are so in need of, rarely stretch as far as paying for a wedding.”

The SA School of Weddings is perfectly placed to make a few couple’s wedding wishes come true, she said.

In order to qualify for a wedding with The Wedding Wish, send a 250 word motivation as to why you (or someone you know) are the best candidate to have your Wedding Wish come true by telling your story. The qualifying bridal couple will receive a wedding for 60 guests with all the trimmings, including: venue hire, catering, invitations, photographs, music, minister, suits, wedding gowns, cake, flowers, hair and makeup.
