Update: Cops hand themselves over

The four police constables involved in the execution style shooting of the alleged robbery suspect have handed themselves over after footage of their actions went viral over the weekend.

The officers, stationed at Krugersdorp SAPS, were then arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) and is currently in the Krugersdorp cells awaiting their first court appearance.
The DA’s Gauteng Shadow MEC for Community Safety, Kate Lorimer said in a media statement that she is sickened by the footage of alleged robber, Khulekani Mpanza, being executed by police.
“Mpanza had already been shot and was lying on the pavement. He was not resisting. There is no excuse for their actions. Police members who believe they are judge, jury and executioner must be harshly dealt with,” Lorimer said.
She further states that their criminal behaviour severely damages the reputation of the SAPS which already suffers from accusations of poor management and a lack of professionalism.
“If the SAPS does not make an example of these cops there will be more and more instances of murder by policemen.”
