[VIDEO] Driver crash lands in ditch after another ignores traffic light

The ditch was lined up with curious bystanders.

Hundreds of curious drivers and pedestrians lined up around the ditch near Paardekraal Drive where a car ended up on its roof at around 10.15am this morning (22 October).

According to a bystander, the driver of the Fiat swerved out of the way of another vehicle that allegedly ignored the traffic light.

What an eyewitness saw:

“He drove down Paardekraal Drive towards Key West Shopping Centre and the other driver crossed the intersection, going towards President Square,” she explained.

Doreen, who drove behind the injured victim, confirmed this and added that the other driver did not even stop to see if he was hurt.

Quick Response Service ambulance took the 31-year-old photographer to the nearest hospital for further treatment while Help24 tried to get the car out of the ditch.

The injured’s brother arrived at the scene and confirmed that his younger brother was in hospital and being treated for minor wounds on his forearm.

Bystanders told the News how quickly it all happened and couldn’t believe that he sustained only minor injures.

“He is very lucky to be alive,” one bystander added.

It seemed the injured did not collide with the other car, but slammed into the pavement and the side of the ditch before overturning and ending up on its roof.

Mogale City’s Traffic Department arrived at the scene, but upon the News leaving, the police had not yet arrived.

The injured’s brother hopes that the accident was caught on a camera so that the other driver can be identified.
