The group of angry protesters want answers after a group of somewhat 250 employees were unfairly dismissed back in 2001.

Residents of Krugersdorp were on high alert after warning messages of a planned march being hosted by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) took over social media.

On arrival at the meeting point in Krugersdorp’s CDB, the News walked in as police tried with all their might to stop the march from happening.

The marchers consisted of a group of unfairly dismissed employees from a local business and members of the EFF. Police informed the members, dressed in their red shirts and berets, that what they are doing is illegal and they will be stopped.

The protesters claimed they followed the right procedure to apply to march with Mogale City Local Municipality, but the municipality has however not yet responded.

“Tell me what are you going to do about it? You will have to arrest us, we are proceeding,” EFF member of Gauteng legisalure Patrick Sindane said to the police.

They further told police they will be walking to Town Hall and not march as stated in the warning messages.

Meanwhile extra police support were organised for today as vehicles were seen patrolling up and down the streets of Krugersdorp.

“You can’t stop us from walking on the pavement.”
