Kagiso police really do their job well

Anonymous from Kagiso writes.

The community needs to recognise the remarkable police service at the Kagiso Police Station.

I bought a car and gave it to a mechanic who requested R5 000 for spray-painting, panel-beating and replacing damaged parts. The mechanic initially requested R2 500 as a deposit, which was paid to start the work he claimed to know.

Throughout the process the mechanic claimed to have a speedy solution for buying the car parts, but I needed to give him an extra R11 600 to speed up the process. The mechanic then worked on the car and further requested R3 200 on top of the R13 600 that already was paid. He claimed it to be for electricians he hired for the job.

R3 200 was paid, but the process was anything but speedy.

Initially, we agreed that the car was going to take three weeks but it ended up taking almost five months.

That is where I asked the police to retrieve my car.

On Sunday 2 August I told the mechanic I wanted my car back. He promised me my car would be ready by Saturday. It took him another two weeks beating about the bush.

On Saturday 22 August when I arrived at the mechanic, a group of intimidating men blocked the driveway and rudely demanded I pay and extra R2 500.

The mechanic said I could only retrieve my car at 2pm later that day.

I did not feel safe to do so, so I requested the police’s assistance yet again. I want to add that even the receptionists were extremely helpful.

At 3pm I arrived, escorted by the police, only to find that the mechanic already had left with my car key.

The police advised me to try again the next day.

The following day he still was not there. He called me later and said I had to bring more money in order to get my car back.

I again requested police assistance, and we went to the mechanic again.

I feel if the police was not there, things would have ended far worse than it did. We had an argument that got very intense. The police, however, were aware of the situation and had evidence of my claims.

Ultimately, I got my car back.

I want to thank Constables Nkyanyani and Campbell for their help and excellent service. They escorted me safely from the mechanic’s property.

Keep it up Kagiso Police Station.
