The aim of the visit was to get the children comfortable with the officers. They learned about traffic rules and how to be safe.

The police taught the children about general safety and warned them about the dangers of talking to strangers.

“They told the children they are here to help them when there is trouble, and not to talk to or accept sweets from strangers,” Mel Naylor, the school principal said.

The pupils were warned not to pick up straws, spoons and other materials off the street as it may have been used for drugs.

“The police made sure the children knew the number for police, 10111 and they ended off by sounding their sirens, which caused much excitement,” Mel concluded.
