Residents of Krugersdorp are warned to use water sparingly or face the consequences.
Mogale City Local Municipality has sent out a warning that the water levels in the Kenmare reservoirs and towers are low. These reservoirs feed Rant-en-Dal, Chancliff, Noordheuwel, Kenmare, Rangeview, Featherbrooke, Pinehaven and parts of Ruimsig and Muldersdrift.
“Kenmare reservoirs and towers are extremely low. Main reservoir almost empty. Please urge your communities to restrict water consumption to household use only. No irrigation please. The affected areas will increase drastically if ignored,” reads the message from Mogale City Local Municipality.
The News received word that talks between Mogale City and Rand Water are under way to help solve the water issue, which could escalate into a crises if ignored.
Owing to the late rainfall season and the current heatwave, the demand for water is greater than the supply.
“I urge the community to use the water we have sparingly and not waste a drop until the water supply has increased to an acceptable level,” commented Tjaart Steenkamp, councillor of Ward 22.
