Assaulted for siding with white people

A man was beaten with a knob kierie after asking his visitors to leave.

Hekpoort police arrested three suspects for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The three males were arrested by police at Manhaarand.

The complainant alleges the three suspects were sitting by a fire at RIA’s farm in Maanhaarand in Hekpoort when the incident occurred.

“When the complainant asked them to leave, because the owner is strict about who he allows on his property, the one suspect became aggressive,” Constable Gloria Maswanganye, Hekpoort Police Spokesperson, said.

The suspect then allegedly accused the victim of being a traitor and that he is “siding with white people”.

The suspect then allegedly took a knob kierie and started assaulting the victim. The other two suspects then joined in and all three suspects beat up the complainant.

The complainant reported the matter to the police after which all three suspects were arrested.

The suspects appeared in court and their was remanded for bail.
