Man tries to break up fight, gets stabbed

A man tried to intervene in a fight between a woman and her partner, but ended up getting stabbed to death.

In a second recent case where a woman assaulted a man for intervening in a fight, a victim was left dead.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested for murder at Bagal Village in Tarlton on Saturday, 23 August.

“The suspect had a quarrel with her boyfriend which eventually led to a physical fight. A man who saw the fight then tried to intervene,” Constable Lucky Matome, police spokesperson, said about the allegations against the woman.

The woman is said to have produced a sharp object with which she stabbed the peacemaker in his upper body.

After being rushed to the nearest hospital, the victim’s injuries led to his death a few hours later.

“The suspect has since been arrested and made a brief appearance at the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court.”

She is expected to make a second appearance tomorrow, 27 August.

The Station Commander of Tarlton police, Lieutenant Colonel Molefi expressed his concern about the increase of assault cases. He pleaded with the community not to resort to violent activities.

“They must rather call the police for assistance,” he said.
