[VIDEO] Police parade with pride
The annual Krugersdorp Cluster Police medal parade was held in honour of those that serve loyally, and it was held with great pride.
Impressively accurate and disciplined; the police medal parade honoured loyal officers who have been serving in the police for 10, 20 and 30 years.
On 21 August, the Krugersdorp Cluster Police held their annual medal parade, where long service medals were awarded to police officers of different ranks and departments.
“This day will never be forgotten by the 43 medal recipients from the Krugersdorp Cluster,” Constable Lucky Matome, police spokesperson, said.
The medal parade was held at the sports grounds of Jan De klerk High school where 43 members were honoured for their loyalty in the police service.
After Pastor Maluleke opened the event with a prayer, the Krugersdorp Cluster Commander Major General Anna Mateisi spoke to the police and their families specifically expressing the appreciation for the support structure that they provide to the dedicated police members.
Midway, while Major General Mateisi pinned a medal on one of the policemen, a family member shouted at the top of her lungs: “That’s my baby!”
This was the mood that the day brought along. Proud officers and family members remembered what it meant to be a police officer.
Various dignitaries attended the event. Among these were chairpersons of the seven Community Policing Forums within the cluster, representatives from the office of the mayor of Mogale City and West Rand District Council, retired police officers and the family members of the recipients.
With a month’s preparation, the parade came ready to impress, and according to General Mateisi and Krugersdorp Station Commander, Brigadier Dalipkimar Baijnath who inspected the formation, they did.
