Residents of the complex stood on the pavement to get a glimpse of the scene where a wall collapsed.

One of the resident’s told the News she heard two loud bangs and wrote it off as thunder and lightning.

Another resident thought it was the arch of the complex’s wall which had finally collapsed.

It is believed that the driver of the bakkie lost control and crashed into the side of the complex due to the slippery road.

A Netcare911 response vehicle, Mogale City’s Emergency Management Services, EPR Security and a fire truck responded to the scene.

It is believed the driver’s injuries were moderate and the driver was taken to hospital for further medical treatment.

Drivers are urged to be careful, especially during the first rain of the season, as the roads tend to be more dusty and slippery which can lead to freak accidents.
