Oaktree accident leaves two dead

Saturday night saw a bakkie roll over leaving two dead.

Late on Saturday, 8 August, at around 9pm, a bakkie rolled and crashed leaving two young men dead and eight others seriously injured.

Trevor Roberts, owner of Conserv Security, whose personnel was first on the scene, said the Krugersdorp Fire Department, various ambulances and police were quick to follow.

“Of the eight who were injured, one was airlifted by a helicopter to Leratong Hospital.”

Residents took to the Facebook page, Krugersdorp Network Community, to inform and question the accident.

According to the posts, a helicopter, an ambulance and various police vehicles were on the scene at the corner of Michael Road and the N14.

“Members who were on the scene said it looked like a war zone, with bodies and car parts scattered everywhere. The bakkie’s canopy was also dismantled from the impact of the crash.”

Trevor furthers said that all the victims were young males.

“Thanks to the good teamwork between emergency response services, the accident was cleared by 11pm.”
