A man sitting on the corner of Bell Street and Shannon Road told the News how he witnessed the man literally dropping dead.

He claimed two men who were collecting rubbish to recycle were crossing Bell Street when one suddenly collapsed at the intersection.

“He started coughing up thick blood,” explained the witness.

He got up and after the pair had crossed the street, he stumbled and fell in the sidewalk garden at the hospital.

At that point his friend ran into the hospital building crying for help.

“It was too late as the man already was dead,” claimed the witness.

Members of the Krugersdorp Police were called to the scene along with Pathology Services to take the body to the mortuary.

“It is alleged that the victim was walking with his friend when he started vomiting and colapsed on the pavement at 13.30pm in Bell Street. Paramedics were called and the victim was certified dead on scene. An Inquest investigation has been opened,” confirmed, Sergeant Tshepiso Mashale, Spokesperson for the Krugersdorp Police Station.

The cause of death is yet unknown and is under police investigation.
