Hoping the bright one is the right one

The Cradle of Hope needs to collect enough funds to purchase a neglected house metres away from their first home.

Months and months have gone by and still the Cradle of Hope has faith as small as a mustard seed.

The organisation, which has overcome many obstacles since opening their doors in 2007, is looking to buy a property metres away from their first home for abused women and children.

Melody van Brakel, founder of the organisation, took the News on a tour of the house they would like to purchase to help extend the service they provide.

Melody recalled the day she prayed for a ‘shining light’ from God, not knowing that later that day she would make a surprising discovery.

“I often drive or walk past the house and pray for God’s provision for this house. I took random photos of it to publish on Facebook, but noticed the first photo was not clear so I refocused the camera on the house. I was speechless. Only then I realised the photo actually was perfect. The sun was shining brightly onto this house, confirming to me that this house, ‘the bright one’ will be an extension of our current house,” Melody said.

Melody found confirmation after confirmation about the house through prayer and has linked the street name to a Greek word meaning the bright light.

The house number 40 has been proven to be a symbol of trial and tribulation as demonstrated throughout the Bible.

Since the house had been put on the market, Cradle of Hope has managed to collected R123 000 towards purchasing it.

But they still have a mountain to climb as the current owners refuse to negotiate their selling price of R650 000.

Sadly the house is becoming run down as time goes by while it could have been used as a safe house for many vulnerable women in the community.
