Biker collides with pedestrian; both die

It is understood that the pedestrian failed to notice the oncoming motorbike while he was crossing the road.

Two men were killed last night when a motorbike collided with a pedestrian close to Farm City on Hendrik Potgieter Road in Muldersdrift.

Russel Meiring, an ER24 spokesperson said paramedics arrived on the scene where they found two lifeless bodies lying in the middle of the road.

The wrecked motorcycle laid about 50 metres from the patients.

“Paramedics assessed the lifeless body of the pedestrian and found he had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead on scene.”

Meiring said on assessment of the biker, paramedics found that he showed no signs of life.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced life support interventions were started to stabilise his vital signs but after 30 minutes the patient unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Meiring said it is understood that the pedestrian failed to notice the oncoming motorbike while he was crossing the road.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
