New private hospital for growing population

A new Netcare hospital is set to open in August and will provide medical services to the West Rand and beyond.

A new hospital, Netcare Pinehaven Hospital, is expected to open in August after almost two years of construction.

In his 2015 State of the City Address, Executive Mayor Koketso Calvin Seerane said the construction created 222 jobs for local residents.

This development has been planned for a long time to form part of Netcare’s vision to expand health facilities amid the growing Krugersdorp community.

The Netcare Pinehaven Hospital is located between Cradlestone Mall and Silverstar.

“The demand for private hospital services in South Africa remains high owing to a growing disease burden and an ageing population,” said Netcare CEO, Richard Friedland, in Financial Mail.

He added that the public sector also is unable to provide quality care.

According to Dikgang Isa Mogale, the municipality’s newsletter, the new hospital will reduce the load for Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital.
