Art and wine wonderland in the Cradle

Interesting art pieces were found placed all over a park in Kromdraai.

This past weekend, art and wine lovers flocked to a rendezvous hidden not far away from the Cradle of Humankind.

Hundreds of curious art lovers, family and friends met at the Nirox Sculpture Park in Kromdraai for the annual Winter Sculpture Fair.

Picnic blankets were scattered all over the park as visitors enjoyed good food and wine from the Franschhoek wine valley.

Walking through the park, visitors breathed in the tranquil air of the Krugersdorp countryside as they ventured between the life-size indoor and outdoor sculptures on display by various well-known artists.

Children of all ages had a blast as they ran up and down the open grass fields of the park to their heart’s delight while their parents had the opportunity to taste sweet and dry wines from different wineries at the exhibition.

Delicious food stalls welcomed the visitors as the flavours of the cuisine mixed well with the fresh country air.

Interesting art sculptures such as a tour of wheelbarrows and cement, large phoenix cats decorated with buttons and a mosaic piece made from different sizes of bottle caps were seen in the park.

A textural wall art made from acrylic nail tips in and ombré-tone from light purple to black drew the crowd as one could only see it’s origin once you take a look closer.

The Fair showcased artwork from artist to like Barend de Wet, Louis Olivier, Hannelie Coetzee and Justine Mahoney, to name a few.
