Truck loses cargo in accident

A driver of a bakkie was seriously injured after colliding with a truck transporting grain.

The R28 road towards Randfontein was closed after a Toyota Hilux collided with a truck resulting in it losing its load of grain which spilled onto the road.

Members of the Sector 5 Community Policing Forum were called to the scene late on Saturday night 9 May. It is believed the truck was turning into the R28 when a the bakkie collided with the truck. The axis of the truck on the second trailer snapped due to impact of the bakkie.

Emergency personnel from Mogale City Emergency Management Service along with Netcare 911 responded to the accident.

The CPF patrollers on the scene quickly worked to close off the road and assisted in redirecting the traffic around the accident.

The driver of the bakkie was seriously injured but stabilised at the scene after which he was taken to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment.

After both the truck and bakkie were towed from the accident scene, CPF patrollers assisted in cleaning up the road and traffic could return to normal.
