Awol fun day launch a success

Awol raised a whopping R25 000 in funds at their launch in April.

The new charity kids on the block, Association Working Out of Love (Awol) celebrates a successful fun day launch at Tarlton International Raceway.

Awol launched their organisation on 11 April to raise much needed funds for the various projects that they support.

A successful fun day allowed the charity musketeers to raise a whopping R25 000 with the help of the community.

The News contacted Tanya de Klerk to follow up on the well-being of a baby who was born to a drug addicted mother and who fought for survival in hospital.

“The baby boy was released from ICU last week, and is now seven months old,” confirmed Tanya who’s team still collects donation for the baby.

She continued by saying that they are in need of nappies and formula milk for the baby who is doing much better.

“Because the baby is so tiny he needs small and premature nappies.”

Awol is also currently attempting to raise R15 000 in funds for a disabled 13-year-old girl who needs to undergo a life changing operation to enable her to walk.

“We have received fantastic feedback from our first fundraising day,” said Tanya.

The organisation has since its launch also welcomed new staff members to the team.
