Krugersdorpers prepare for a monster

They will be taking on the FNB Magalies Monster Mountain Bike Classic in May.

Other than their love of mountain biking, Erik Kleinhans and Robyn De Groot have another thing in common.

On Saturday, 23 May they will both make their debut at one of South Africa’s most revered one day mountain bike races, the FNB Magalies Monster Mountain Bike (MTB) Classic presented by Isuzu.

“I know the FNB Magalies Monster is a beast,” said Robyn.

“I try to take part in a few new events each year, this adds to the adventure. I have heard super things about this race. The 80km Monster isn’t for the faint-hearted and features some good climbing and technical riding. I am looking forward to the challenge. My goal will be to race as best I can, perform as best I can and have fun”.

According to Erik this will be the first time that he takes part in an event in this area.

“I’ve heard the route is hilly, rocky and quite technical. This sounds like my type of riding. I am definitely looking forward to taking part in something different,” he said.

“Events organised by Stillwater Sports are always well organised. I am looking forward to a new challenge, as it always helps to keep things exciting.”

Erik further added apart from a good social experience offered by mountain biking, racing is his profession.

“I hardly ever line up for a race without a top result in mind.”
