Alleged business robber caught

A suspected business robber is expected to make an appearance in court soon for a crime which he committed in December last year.

A 40-year-old suspect was arrested on Monday 16 February for a business robbery that took place in Tshepisong last year.

Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said the complainant and two of his colleagues alleged that in December last year they started to work as security guards at a construction company in Thsepisong phase 1.

“They were all sitting inside a company truck when suddenly a group of unknown men appeared. The suspects, all armed with firearms, ordered the complainants to get off the truck and to lie on the ground,” said Sibiya.

“They then disarmed them, searched and stole their cell phones. The complainants’ hands were further bound to their backs.”

Some of the company’s stolen property included a stamper machine, generator, a jack hammer and diesel. A passerby allegedly noticed the three guards struggling to untie themselves and he rescued them.

“Through police investigations one of the suspects was arrested at his home yesterday and later detained at the Kagiso Police Station,” Sibiya said.

The suspect is due to appear briefly in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon facing business robbery charges.

The other suspects are still at large and police investigations are continuing to.
