Mob justice after alleged house robbery

The suspects entered the home and robbed the complainant of her television set, music system and other electrical appliances.

While Kagiso police officers were conducting patrols they received a complaint of mob justice at the Tshepisong informal settlement.

Solomon Sibiya, a police spokesperson said when the police proceeded to the scene they found that members of the community searched and arrested three alleged house robbery suspects who was then assaulted.

“The suspects were all on the ground and bleeding from their injuries. The complainant was also on the scene when she told the police that she hired the suspects for building.”

Sibiya said the suspects allegedly came back during the night, entered the complainant’s home and robbed her of a televison set, music system and other electrical appliances at gun point.

During further investigations the police found some of the complainant’s property at one of the suspects’ shack.

The suspects were taken to the local hospital with head and body injuries after they had been arrested.

They will make a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court, facing charges for possession of alleged stolen property and house robbery.
