Local beauty a Miss SA finalist

"I feel incredibly blessed to be here and plan not to take this opportunity for granted."

Sun International announced the names of the three hopefuls who will join the Top 24 semifinalists to compete for the Miss South Africa title in March next year.

The new contestants Kirsten Hornby, 24, who is a former Miss Mogale finalist, Ntsiki Mkhize, 23, of Kliprivier and Tegan Goldman, 22, of Port Elizabeth will compete for the crown.

They will replace Kelly Davids, Altina Vries and Aseza Matanzima who were disqualified from the pageant last week because they had visible tattoos.

When told that she had made the Top 24, Kirsten who is involved full time in the fight against human trafficking, said it was “the most surprising call of my life. I completely had closed off the idea of ever getting in. I feel incredibly blessed to be here and plan not to take this opportunity for granted.”

The Top 10 will be announced in early February and the televised crowning will take place at Sun City on 29 March.
