VIDEO: Hit-and-run victim airlifted

A seriously injured hit-and-run victim was airlifted from the parking lot of a local night club after the driver who allegedly caused the collision and his passenger had fled the scene.

Hundreds of residents gathered outside a local club to witness a hit-and-run victim being airlifted for further medical attention late last night, Tuesday 25 November.

It is alleged that a white 1400 Nissan Champ bakkie was travelling along Commissioner Street towards the central business district of Krugersdorp West when the driver skipped the traffic light and ran over a pedestrian on the sidewalk.

According to eyewitnesses on the scene, the driver of the bakkie then lost control of the vehicle, causing him to swerve into oncoming traffic and crashing into a ditch behind the Limelight Club.

Members of the Sector 5 Community Policing Forum along with Netcare 911 paramedics were on the scene to assist the victim.

Bystanders claim there were two people in the bakkie who fled the scene shortly after crashing the vehicle.
