A Parisian breakfast in aid of Cansa

On Sunday (13 July) Mrs South Africa finalist Cathy Heaton hosted an elegant Parisian breakfast at the Memoire Wedding Venue in Muldersdrift in aid of Cansa.

The event was attended by over 100 esteemed guests including Basetsana Kumalo, former Miss South Africa and many of the Mrs SA finalists and crew.

The morning was dedicated to a former Mrs SA finalist and beauty queen, Sheryl Long who survived breast cancer twice and currently is fighting a tumor in her brain.

Donation jars filled with lavender ribbons, a symbol of the fight against cancer, were placed on each table and guests were encouraged to donate to this worthy cause. An amazing raffle raised even more money for Cansa.

Cansa’s purpose is to lead the fight against cancer in South Africa. Its mission is to be the preferred non-profit organisation that enables research, educates the public and provides support to all people affected by cancer.

The morning’s proceedings began with a fashion show by Fleaq, a new proudly South African brand. The delicious breakfast of poached eggs wrapped in bacon and hollandaise sauce was followed by four talks.

Dr Xen from Skin, Body & Health Renewal spoke on aesthetics, while Cathy Heaton, a professional make-up artist and photographer gave make-up tips and tricks with the help of a demonstration by MUD.

Turn Your Voice Viral gave a very informative talk on the dangers of social media and how to avoid cyber-bullying and lastly Anja Cruse-Bothma, Head Stylist for Mrs SA enlightened gave fashion hints for 2014.

Each Mrs South Africa finalist is tasked with hosting a Cuppa for Cansa and last year over R270 000 was raised by the finalists. By the looks of Heaton’s event, this year’s finalists are set to beat that record.
