Action-packed fun day in aid of the elderly

Something fun for everyone while doing their bit for charity.

The Gateway Society for the intellectually disabled recently held a fundraising event at The Hobby Park in Krugersdorp in aid of a project to build a home for the elderly.

The event catered for young and old, adventure junkies, sport fanatics and even those who enjoy a good braai.

A braai space, paintball, fishing, hiking, cycling, stalls, live entertainment and a 4×4 track were some of the attractions on offer for the large crowd that opened their hearts and wallets on Thursday 1 May.

The men and children enjoyed themselves on the 4×4 track where the Round Table 4×4 Club played around and showed what their cars could do, while the ladies browsed the items on offer at the craft market or enjoyed a picnic under the trees.

Event organiser and Gateway spokesperson Chanelle Bekker expresses her delight with the turnout and says that the society plans to make the event an annual one. She thanks those who took part in the day, adding that their donations will make a big difference in completing the development.

A potjiekos competition was the last of the lineup for the day with celebrity judge Tiron Eloff and local catering company Omega Events.

The winners were:

1st Xavier Greyling

2nd Rudi Grobler

3rd Denzel O’Donoghue.

The Gateway Society would like to thank their sponsors for their loyal support in making the fundraiser a success.
