Ex-lover arrested for rape

He ordered his ex-girlfriend to lie on top of an old fridge where he raped her.

The Kagiso Police has arrested a 26-year-old man in Swanieville on 25 March at about 7pm, after his ex-girlfriend had opened a case of rape against him.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says that the woman allegedly was with a friend at a tavern on 22 March when her ex-boyfriend arrived at about 9pm.

“The suspect wanted his ex-girlfriend to go with him but she refused, he then dragged her out of the tavern and threatened her with a firearm.”

Sibiya says that the woman’s friend tried to interfere, but also was threatened with death.

“The suspect then took the complainant to the back of his home where an old fridge was lying horizontally. He ordered the complainant at gunpoint to lie on the fridge and raped her.”

Thereafter the suspect told her to get dressed.

“He further ordered her to a shack next to a taxi rank where he raped her for a second time.”

Sibiya confirms that the matter was reported to the police who followed up and arrested the suspect.

A case docket of rape has been opened and the suspect appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
