Mr ADT informs children on safety

The children of Silverfields Primary School were visited by Mr ADT who taught them safety tips.

Well-known Johannesburg entertainer, Mr ADT (Darrin McDowall) visited the Silverfields Primary School on 22 February to teach them home safety skills in a fun and entertaining way.

The show, which is a complementary service that ADT Security offers to pre-primary and primary schools, focuses on important topics such as bullying, home robberies, keeping belongings safe, being alert, dangers of strangers and respecting fellow South Africans.

Mr ADT also covers issues such as a good or bad way for someone to touch them, how to use panic buttons, never to open the door to a stranger and the importance of knowing a parent’s contact details and other emergency numbers, such as the number for their security company and the number for the South African Police Service (10 111).

“Unfortunately, in South Africa there is no escape from conversations about crime,” says Clive Humphrey, Managing Director of ADT.

“Children are never too young to be educated and made aware, in a non-threatening manner, of the dangers that exist in our society. They need to be empowered to be able to protect themselves in a dangerous situation,” says Humphrey.

“Darrin has a fun, friendly way of addressing these pertinent issues. He has found the perfect balance, as the show keeps the children informed and entertained while reinforcing valuable safety tips.”

Mr ADT presents his shows at local schools and are free of charge.

Teachers or parents interested in booking a show for their school are welcome to contact Tamryn Carr on 086 121 2400 or via email on tcarr.za@adt.co.za for further information.
