Princess makes cut for Gladiator TV series

Krugersdorp resident makes the cut for Gladiator TV series.

Krugersdorp residents can tune in to e.tv soon to see one of their own battling it out in the famous Gladiator TV series.

Princess Susan, as she was dubbed as part of the character she would portray, qualified to be one of the top 12 Gladiators after a rough qualifying round in Cape Town. She is from Kenmare.

To qualify, aspiring Gladiators first had to try out to be a Trojan Warrior – a name used for try-out purposes as e.tv possesses the patent right to the Gladiator name.

Trojan Warrior criteria expects of female finalist to do the following under five minutes:

• 20 male push-ups – chest must touch the helper’s fist

• 50 sit ups – lower back must touch the helper’s hand on the mat while a second helper holds her feet

• 20 burpies – jumping up into the air and down to do a next burpie

• 20 rope jumps, side to side – two helpers will hold the skipping rope tight for contender to be able to jump from side to side facing one of the helpers. Each side counts as one

Princess completed all the challenges in less than three minutes.

The local fitness guru now poses a challenge to other Krugersdorp residents to attend the Joburg wing of the try-outs to see if they can make the cut.

The try-outs will be held at the Coca-Cola Dome as part of the Look and Feel Good Expo from 8 to 10 November.

Next year the series will be aired on eTVonly,but it already is available on Cape TV on DStv where it takes a one-hour slot once a week.
