Be part of Eye Care Awareness Day

This year they are aiming to examine 150 paying customers.

In 2011 Roland Williams Optometrist launched the first West Rand Eye Care Awareness Day.

The aim of the day is to create awareness, but more importantly to raise funds for charity.

Their goal is to test as many eyes as possible in one day and to donate the funds raised from the exams.

This year their third annual West Rand Eye Care Awareness Day will be held on 26 October.

In 2011 they tested 107 paying customers and helped five West Rand people with cataract surgery. Last year they did 138 exams and donated R40 000 to the Guide Dogs Association of South Africa.

This year they are aiming to examine 150 paying customers.

How can you help?

Have your eyes examined on Saturday 26 October at one of the participating optometrists.

You may use your medical aid or pay cash at a reduced price of R300 per eye test.

What will you receive?

• Full eye examination (recommended that you test every two years)

• A prescription card to have spectacles made at an optometrist of your choice

• Free pair of sunglasses

• 25 per cent off your co-payment voucher, redeemable at any of the participating optometrists

• The joy of giving

Participating optometrists are Roland Williams Optometrists Randfontein and Spec-Savers Krugersdorp, Randfontein, Westonaria and Princess Crossing.

Many thanks need to go to the staff of participating schools, companies and sponsors for making the event a huge success last year: Absa Randfontein, Krugersdorp and Horison Park, Randfontein High School, Hoërskool Monument, Sars Horison Park and Pick n Pay Princess Crossing.

Without the continued support of the public, events like these will not be possible.

Support this worthy cause and make a life-changing difference in someone’s life.
