The top achievers in this year’s Business Achievers Awards

A total of 18 businesses from the West Rand scooped up awards.

Besides being the overall winner, Dis-Chem have been announced winners in the Corporate National and Franchise category at this year’s West Rand Chamber of Business and Tourism (WRCBT) Achiever’s Awards held at Usambara.

The other businesses from the area was announced as follows:

Lombard Tyres, which is celebrating its 30th year of existence, was announced winners in the Corporate Motor Tyre Dealer caregory and Action Ford received the award for being the best in the Motor Vehicle Retail Trade category.

Avima Agriculture, the insecticides manufacturer situated in Chamdor won the Corporate Medium Achievers and the Agricultural Products category.

Majesty Oil Mills, known for manufacturing soya mince and soya chunks won the Large Independent Manufacturing category and Willie Fourie Laboratories won the Medium Independent Dental Laboratories category.

For the Independent Entrepreneur Achievers category two businesses was announced as joint winners namely Mosaics by Lemaryn and Stepping Stones.

The Rabbit Hole Guest House and Restaurant, a tourist accomodation site was announced as the Small Business winner in the category for Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure.

Maropeng, which is Krugersdorp’s biggest tourist attraction situated in the Cradle of Humankind won the award for Large Business in the Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure category.

Jelani Tours, a travel and tourism operator, was awarded the Best Tour Operator in the Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure category.

Eagle Flight Ministries, a non-profit organisation that is aimed to assist those with lupus in South Africa was the winner in the Service Innovation category and Susan van der Walt, their chief executive officer, who was at this stage emotional about the winnings, won the Woman Business Achievers Award for 2013.

They managed to also pocket the Chris Kruger Community Award, an award that recognises excellence service in the community.

Table Pleasures Party Hire walked away as winners in the category for Unique Products in the part y hire industry.

Pleasure Danes, a Krugersdorp-based kennel focusing on the breeding of the Great Dane dog breed was announced winners in the Emerging Enterprises category.

The Chief Executive Special Award was handed over to Food Lover’s Market as the business who managed to show a growth in a period of two years.
