It’s a movement that encourages LGBTIQA+ individuals, as well as their friends and family, to enjoy one another’s diversity while advocating for equal rights.

According to Shatadi Makopo, founder of Same Love Entertainment, the day will be for people to embrace their gender identity and sexual orientation.

“The effort is about building a social safe place for the LGBTIQA+ community, but not only for them community. It’s about bringing people together in a non-judgemental setting where you can be yourself and do so freely,” said Makopo.

“We are collaborating with Thato One Big Family LGBTIQA+ Society, which, in collaboration with Thembisa Stakeholders Forum, will bring mental and wellness specialists to the event to provide aid to those who require it during the initial portion of the event, before the celebrations begin.

“The goal is for everyone to have a good time in the sun, enjoy delicious food and beverages, and most importantly, to leave the event knowing and understanding that we are all one, regardless of how we appear, where we come from, or what sexuality we have. Let’s simply share love and have ubuntu.”

Makopo called on the community to support the event.

“This event is about empowering our community; we have local brands and vendors who will be given the opportunity to grow their businesses,” said Makopo.
