SA author to talk at coffee morning

Gail's books will be on sale after the talk

ON Friday, May 5 local author Gail Schimmel will attend the Friends of Modderfontein Library’s coffee morning where she will introduce her latest novel, The Park, and highlight her writing career.

Gail lives in Johannesburg with her husband and two children and in addition to running her consultancy as a specialist in advertising law, she spends as much time as possible writing.

In a chat with fellow author Pamela Power, Gail described The Park as “only a tiny bit thrilling” but this met with instant disagreement as Pamela found the book “very thrilling indeed and a fine example of domestic suspense”.

Gail describes her book as “griplit” and says she has no pretensions to writing great literature.

What she’s after is a compelling story and The Park ticks that box.

Gail’s books will be on sale after the talk.

This event takes place at Thornhill Estate community centre, Queen Street, Modderfontein at 9.30am. Refreshments will be served before the talk and the cost for attendance is R20 a person.

All are welcome and for additional information, call the librarian on 011 608 0421.
