The Brotherhud Football Club, currently competing in the Tembisa United Football Association (TUFA) League with two divisions, the senior team and the U17s, has had a remarkable start to the new season.

After finishing second in their first season and securing promotion to the Super League, the senior team opened the new season with an impressive 2-1 victory over FC Ranger on September 28.

This win has significantly boosted the team’s confidence as they embark on their new campaign.

They have focused on enhancing their attacking strategies and implementing a tactical periodisation approach, allowing them to simulate game situations during training to prepare for real match scenarios.

The technical team noted that while the players performed well and created several scoring opportunities, they struggled to convert them into goals, prompting them to make tactical adjustments and substitutions during the match.

Coach Tebogo Raphadu expressed his passion for the game.

“The win reminded me of why I fell in love with football. When the players perform well, it brings them joy, and that joy makes us, as coaches, happy, too.

“I aspire to see the team reach great heights in football, play for top clubs globally, and, ultimately, change their lives and the lives of those around them.”

Reflecting on the match, Raphadu added, “It was an exciting game, rekindling our rivalry from last season when we defeated them. They sought revenge, which added intensity to the match.

“There was no room for mistakes. It was a physical game filled with emotions but remained friendly competition. Overall, we controlled the game and created the most chances.”

In addition to their on-field efforts, the team is developing various off-the-field programmes to empower the players outside of football.

They also plan to broaden their horizons by playing against teams beyond Thembisa, providing their young athletes with invaluable exposure to various competitive environments.
