Lion Heart FC’s U10 side secure a massive win

From the start of the first half, the Lion Hearts players used their prowess to dominate over their Old Bens rivals.

The Lion Hearts U10 side could not help themselves when they scored goal after goal when the team recently faced Old Bens.

The two teams faced each other at Kempton Park Red Sox Baseball Club and only the full-time whistle saved the Old Bens side from a bigger defeat.

From the start of the first half, the Lion Hearts players used their prowess to dominate over their Old Bens rivals.

The Old Bens side tried their best to fight and give their opponents a challenge but the Lion Hearts players were just too good.

A few minutes into the first half, Gino Klim scored an opener for the Lion Hearts.

Despite their early disadvantage, the Old Bens side kept pushing to try to score but a lack of communication on the field and several mistakes saw the team fall further behind when Klim scored a second goal for his team.

Players from Lion Hearts put their heart and soul into the match and took full advantage of every opportunity to score.

Before the end of the first half, Lion Hearts scored two more goals to lead the match 4-0.

At the start of the second half, the Old Bens players looked tired and the Lion Hearts took full advantage.

Moments after the start of the second half, Walter Gwebani secured the fifth game goal for the Lion Hearts.

During the game, Gwebani scored a hat trick for the Lions Hearts.

Fellow players Melusi Maselela and Ngcebo Lukhele also scored a hat trick ensuring the Lion Hearts a 12 – 0 lead.
The Old Bens side refused to give up and kept fighting until the end.

The Lion Hearts won the game against Old Bens 16-0.

Nicholas Tsuen, Old Bens coach, said regardless of the outcome of the game, he is happy with his team’s performance; although they had some troubles.

“The boys did well and there are some areas we need to work on but otherwise, they performed well. They played to the game plan and I am proud of them.

A parent, Charlie Harper said she tried to be positive throughout the match.

“We were excited about the game. The first half was tough, and the children were tired in the second half.

“With how the game was, I almost thought we were playing a premier team.

“I think our children have a long way to go. We need a lot more training and fitness.

“It’s not always about winning but how you play the game,” she said.

Lion Hearts coach Kevin Mbele said he was over the moon with his team’s performance.

“I’m proud of the lads; they performed well and played as a team.

“The team kept the ball like pros and listened to the message they received from the bench.

“It was a brilliant performance from everyone,” said Mbele.
