Kempton Park’s Red Sox RAMS and Titans go head to head

The mercy rule was put into effect after Sox Rams again left the diamond run-less at the top of the fifth frame.

On July 14, Kempton Park’s Red Sox Rams faced Edenvale’s Titans on their rival’s home turf at the Edenvale Sports Grounds.

In preparation for the much-anticipated game, both sides fielded their top players.

At the top of the first frame, Sox Rams sought to take an early lead and brought home two runs.

Their hopes, however, were dashed when a double play by Titans ended their batting innings.

In response, Titans lead off their first batting frame with a two-base hit to set up their power batting performance and bring home a staggering eight runs.

The top of the second frame saw Sox Rams lose three batters quickly to end their batting innings without scoring any runs.

Titans capitalised on their lead by adding another four runs to their total.

In frames three and four Sox Rams again failed to score while Titans added 12 runs to their growing total.

The mercy rule was put into effect after Sox Rams again left the diamond run-less at the top of the fifth frame.

This saw the game end early and Titans walked away with the 24 – 2 victory.

Sports enthusiasts are called to be part of the Kempton Park Red Sox for baseball or softball.

The club’s weekly training sessions take place every Tuesday and Thursday.
