Imvuselelo has strived to see talent from Thembisa play in the PSL teams, with one player signed to Cape Town City.

Thulani Masilela, founder of the Imvuselelo Sporting Organisation, said the idea of starting a tournament was to promote the spirit of football in the community.

“When I started this tournament, I realised that Thembisa lacks sports activities that focus on the youth. I decided to host sports events during the school holidays to help entertain the children.

“The goal is to grow the spirit of football in communities. We want to ensure the spirit of football does not die because we know this township has produced many legends, and we will strive to produce more.

“Having Xolani Khumalo Foundation onboard has played a big role in ensuring the practising of discipline among players.

“Xolani brings vast knowledge to the team, and he hates seeing drugs destroying future leaders of the country.

“We make sure no alcohol is allowed on the grounds, and no illegal substances are seen during tournaments.“
Xolani said the support from the community has been amazing.

“Our partnership with Imvuselelo has grown beyond what I expected.

“The community forums and crime prevention units helped to ensure this venue is child-friendly and crime-free, which shows what we are doing is promoting unity.

“When we are united everything goes smoothly. We had one goal; to see that children are recognised on the field.”

Ama 2000 FC was the crowned champions of the U23 Winter Edition Games and walked away with R40 000.
